Salamonie Lake Tournament Results
The Salamonie was nearly down to summer pool the week prior to the Indiana Slab Masters Tournament, until several inches of rain poured on the area and caused the lake to go up nearly 10' and become very muddy as the week leading up to the tournament. The fish appeared to be in the middle of the spawn and a lot of fish were caught as many teams brought a limit to the scale.
In first place was the team of Jeff Yeakle and Johnathon Brumley with a total weight of 6.38 lbs and winning them $260.40 for 1st place, along with a $75.00 B'n'M gift certificate. Jeff and Johnathon were fishing Southern Pro jigs about a foot below a float in 4' of water around a lot of the flooded debris in the lake. Great Job guys on your first Indiana Slab Masters Win!
Finishing in 2nd place was Ed Para and Robert Bales with a total weight of 6.23 lbs. Ed and Robert were long line trolling in 11' of water in flooded timber. Ed and Robert won $ 217.00 for 2nd place and breaks into the top 5 for the 1st time this year! Congratulations on the finish, and great job men!
Finishing in 3rd place was the team of Jim Hughes and John Alee with a total weight of 6.04 lbs. Jim and John were fishing with a float set at 18" deep with a bare hook and minnow. Jim and John won $173.60 for their effort. Great Job men!
Finishing in 4th place was the team of Walter Moore and Kirk Wyman with a total weight of 6.02 lbs. Walter and Kirk were fishing with orange and chartreuse tubes trolling in 12'-13' of water, fishing varying depths from 4'-10' deep. Walter and Kirk finally broke into the top 5 this year with this well deserved finish! Great job men! Walter and Kirk won $130.20 for their 4th place finish.
Finishing in 5th place was the team of Paul Hildreth and Charlie Hildreth with a total weight of 5.76 lbs. Paul and Charlie have frequented the top 5 this year, and finished there again this tournament. Paul and Charlie were spider rigging 8'-13' of water fishing 3' deep. Paul and Charlie were using Southern Pro orange and chartreuse tubes and cajun stinger shad tipped with a minnow. Paul and Charlie won $86.80 fir their finish. Good job guys!
Finishing 1st out of the money was the team of Bill Fording and Harold Ferran with a total weight of 5.74 lbs. Bill and Harold were slow trolling in a cove near the dam fishing with Southern Pro baits tipped with live bait. Bill and Harold won a Oil Change from Anderson Ford Auto World, a $10.00 Fish Formula gift certificate and a $25.00 B'n'M gift certificate. This is the second tournament in a row that these men have finished 1st out of the money.
The Ted's Big fish award of $50.00 and the Big Fish pot of $155.00 goes to the team of Terry and Melody Richardson with a 1.65 lb. crappie. Melody caught the fish on a hand-made hair jig that Terry made. Terry and Melody have been getting stronger as the year goes along! Great Job!
